I suffered from impaired hearing for many years. One to one conversations were not too bad, interspersed with “sorry” or “I didn’t catch that”. But group situations were a nightmare and mostly an “opt out”. I went to my GP who referred me to an ENT specialist. Hearing tests were rudimentary and the verdict was I had reduced hearing in both ears. The specialist said that he would monitor the situation and I should come back every three months. I returned three times and paid three fees. I discontinued the visits. I noticed a friend wearing a hearing aid. I got the name of his practitioner, Patricia Kilmartin, and made an appointment. The first consultation was a revelation and for me, it was how business should be transacted.
I was placed in a soundproof booth, equipped with a beeper to be used in relation to the tones being transmitted to me on headphones. I saw Patricia assiduously recording the findings and at the end of a 20 minute session she announced I had an equal loss in each ear. She then went through the range of hearing aids and recommended which was most applicable for the hearing loss I was suffering from.
The Signia hearing aids she recommended were excellent and made such a change to my life. I could hear the birds sing again, embarrassment was gone in company and the volume on the TV was returned to normal.
Patricia Kilmartin is very professional, efficient, helpful and concerned that I should get the best results from her expertise and equipment.
